Almost Friday

Thursday, March 26, 2009

I have been busy as of late. Yesterday some more pendants came in that I'm using for my flower pendants. I worked up a couple last night and they turned out pretty nice. I found an easier way to do the base background by using clay. It works really well for the oval and circle pendants plus the dried flowers embed into it better. One of the issues I've found with using the paper type backgrounds and no way to really secure the flowers is that while the resin is drying the flowers will start to try and float, which you really don't want because then there's not a smooth finished surface.

I also received some more patterned wire in this shipment. I bought some more of the flower/spiral design and also picked up some that is about the same thickness but about have the width. It will make a very nice pair of thinner hoops I think. But, I'm not even working on those until this weekend. Also in the mail were two labradorite stones. One is huge and absolutely beautiful. It has the neast blue and gold flame. Usually with labradorite when you hold it one way it will flash one color and when you shift the position of it it will flash another color. This stone will flash both blue on one area and gold in another area at the same time. It is really quite stunning.

Tonight I'm finishing up a dark red shawl I've been working on . It is a bit more intricate than the one I posted before and instead of the usual triangular shape this one is a half circle. I was a bit worried that it would take me longer than it has when I first started it but it picked up towards the end so I'm really pleased with how it turned out. As always, pictures of everything are soon to follow.

The Best Buy saga continues...

and not in a good way. So there was the whole scheduling issues for Friday. It took until yesterday for someone to finally get back to us. In the mean time we just ordered the stupid part online. Dave gets a call Monday about them being able to come out on Thursday. He tells them he'll think about it and get back to the guy since we already ordered the part. The part shows up today and Dave goes ahead and call the guy back this morning. At worst we'll just keep the part for if it goes out again in the future. Call back, the guy says sure Thursday is still open I'll put you down. An hour later another call center calls Dave back and tells him they see he's been scheduled for Thursday but that time won't work and it'll have to be scheduled for Friday.

These people obviously have some scheduling issues. Needless to say, my TV is now on and working no thanks to Best Buy and their Geek Squad. So, Best Buy is now on my list of "do not buy" stores.

Whatever I had last week illness wise has come back for revenge. Yesterday I was beyond drained and today I can't breath and have been coughing like crazy. I went home at lunch and worked on some things from home.

Yesterday I posted my really cute earrings on etsy. I really love these too, they're just fun and cute.

and these
Working with clay has really sparked my imagination. I have a ton of ideas on more earrings and different type items like stitch markers and bracelets. So maybe this weekend I'll do alot more playing.

Just one of those days

Saturday, February 21, 2009

Today has just been one of those days. First, it started off with whatever blew in the other day with a front we got has played hell with my sinuses and this morning I felt horrible. So Little G and I stayed home while Dave went to the grocery store. When he got back he and bought me flowers. My husband regularly brings me flowers and while his intentions are good and I appreciate it the man can NOT pick out flowers. This was a spring bouquet with some spider mums, daisies and some flower closely related to a tiger lily. The lilies were all completely wilted because probably whatever they were in was low on water. I took out all of the wilted ones and my husband looks over and says, "I thought there were a lot more flowers than that?" I nicely explain to him that the other flowers were wilted. He felt a little bad but the rest of the flowers are nice and the spider mums are my favorite anyway.

Things started to pick up from here. I went to the knit shop for my usual Saturday knitting (as I have a vest I'm working on for Little G's picture day March 4th) and found out that one of my shawl pins had already sold. (I just dropped them off Thursday right before she closed) Then this one lady came in and bought three more of them and everyone that came in thought they were the cutest things. Sweet!

The rest of the day went pretty good until we decided to go out and about. We were originally going to go Old Town but halfway there we decide that Little G wasn't looking like he's up for it so we turn around and stop by Target to pick him up some Hot Wheels. He perks up at this idea and we go inside and pick out some and then Dave finds some G.I. Joe DVD toy he wants. We are down by the sports section when Little G, out of nowhere, just starts throwing up. If you have kids you know that when they're this little (2) that you feel bad for them and it's even worse when they look up at you with those "mommy make me feel better, what's happening?" eyes. It breaks your heart because until whatever it is runs it's course there's nothing you can do.

So, Dave stays with him while I got to get paper towels from the bathroom....there are only hand dryers in the bathroom. Doh! Luckily the cleaning closet by the bathrooms is wide open and what do I spy on the shelf but paper towels. Hallelujah! I take some back, get him cleaned up as possible, Dave takes him to the car and I purchase our items. After my kid puking in the general area of these things I am NOT going to be putting them back that would be gross. Little G seems to be doing 100% better the rest of the night so we're guessing something just didn't agree with him. But geeze, what a day.
